I began oil painting
when I was about 20 years old. I was fortunate to have five
years of weekly private lessons with a self supporting artist. He
called his style of painting ‘realistic impressionism. Through
his skill and understanding of the basics of oil painting, I was
able to gain a skill that has brought me satisfaction for many
years. I hope to pass what I have learned on to you, while
stimulating you to paint in a way that brings out your own artistic

Getting started with oil painting requires an
initial investment in paint, brushes, and supplies. However,
both paint and brushes will last a long time if properly stored and
cared for.
